Greys Anatomy ramblings
Jan. 17th, 2007 09:19 pmSo TR Knight appeared on Ellen to discuss Isiah Washington's latest outburst and man is he a class act. Clearly uncomfortable, clearly quite distressed by the whole thing but not prepared to lie about the incident or sweep it under the rug for the sake of a cushy job. The whole thing just pains me so much because I do think Washington is one of the best actors on the show and Christina and Burke together just slay me - their relationship just has so many layers and it feels like a real nuanced relationship rather than the soap opera silliness of McDreamy and Meredith.
But I just can't watch Washington any more - watching the Burke/George scenes are excrutiating because they're supposed to have this mentor/student thing going and yet you know just how appallingly little respect Washington has for his co-star. I have never understood homophobia - its completely beyond me. Can't even begin to comprehend it. And the longer that Shonda Rimes and ABC allow this matter to trundle on without a statement the more it seems that they are condoning homophobic slurs. I'm so pleased that Katie Heigl immediately stood up for TR Knight on Monday and didn't keep quiet - she seems like a true friend to him. So whilst I do think that Seattle Grace will be a poorer place without Burke I really do hope that they fire Washington's sorry ass. And soon.
