I think Dead and Breakfast might just be the strangest horror movie I've ever seen. I was just about coping with the direct to camera musical interludes but they pretty mcuh lost me right about the time that the zombies started dancing. Still JDM just look really cute in a sherrif's outfit and cowboy hat - even if he was playing one of the dumbest men who ever lived!

Torchwood - this show never fails to disappoint me. I could cope with it being so deriative (Voyager did an episode in which Amelia Earheart appeared for Christ's sake), with the characters being cyphers, with there being no consistency at all in the team's relationships, with the gratutious and painfully unsexy sex talk (Owen saying he liked the Pilot's face when she comes made me quite queasy) and with John Barrowman being so pitifully under utilised if each episode wasn't so fucking dull. I nearly dozed off during tonight's episode. I really can't believe that not only has it been renewed but that they're moving it to BBC 2 for the second season. Let's hope they fire the entire writing team during the hiatus!

Dead & Breakfast is one weird movie. But if you watch it with commentary it's way better :)

I'm only just now getting into Doctor Who, but I plan on watching that and Torchwood over the holidays, everyone seems to be really enjoying both shows...

I confess I don't have the commentary (I downloaded the movie) but I'm sure a JDM commentary would be hilarious.

Doctor Who is a great show - I prefer the newer doctor - David Tennant to Christopher Ecclestone but Ecclestone's season was better written. Torchwood has some engaging characters and actors but the writing so far has been nothing to write home about - I don't think there is yet a single episode of Torchwood that I would bother to re-watch.

He was giggling and flirting with the other guys and generally just being cute *draws hearts all around him*

I've been meaning to watch Who for a while and THAT picture from Torchwood (not sure it's aired yet, so I don't want to spoil, but I've heard it mentioned as THAT pic) made me decide to start now. Only seen 3 episodes and so far I really like Ecclestone.

Nine was way better written than Ten's stuff. I'll agree with you there. But I've said that all along. I don't blame the actors of either series. it's the writers I'll tar and feather.

Dead and Breakfast was totally insane but also worth it just for the scene of JDM and Jeremy Sisko going toe to toe. "You don't want to dance with me, boy." Heeeee!

Hee your icon is adorable. Dead and Breakfast was definitely fun but it will be nice to actually see him in a decent film - The Accidental Husband sounds awesome (plus fireman's outfit!) and I can't wait to see it.

I loved Dead and Breakfast - I wrote Dean *facepalm* - it's like crack! And I love the line "Ain't you bout as handy as a pocket on a shirt!"

Torchwood? Shift your expectations south and it becomes more watchable.

Oh, who am I kidding? It's shite. I'll buy the DVDs when they go cheap and give it my son when he's older. He likes the ones I've let him see.

And I think that's the problem. They seem to have written it for teens.

That was an entertainingly dopey line! I liked the film but I hated how dismissively he got killed at the end - still it was better than Jared's fate in House of Wax!

Torchwood - it just irritates me. They have a great assset with John Barrowman and they just don't use him. I don't hate any of the cast but it does bewilder me why they give Owen and Gwen so much screentime when everyone is only bloody watching for Jack! The writing is all over the place - it is aimed at teens but then it has all this cringy smutty sex talk thrown in which isn't really helping its cause. I guess if I start with non existent expectations each week it can only get better.

Read a cracking Doctor/Jack fic the other day which I must rec on here when I do my next update - although Doctor Who fanfic is a scary place - massive massive archives featuring over 40 years woth of characters! Little too vast for me to negotiate on a regular basis!

Just point people in the direction of Teaspoon! I think people are really only interested in Nine and Ten, so just keep your recs to them. Less work for you as well. And where's my het recs? *wags finger sternly*

(I know you're working!)
