Another story written for maygra's birthday this is a heart breakingly angsty look at Dean and his relationship with Sam. The repetition of "In the Light" and "In the Dark" is particularly powerful.

In the light, they visit an Open House barbecue in a doomed suburb, and are mistaken for a couple "twice". Dean finds that so mind-boggling that he teases Sam
with it in front of half the neighborhood. How could anyone think they're that close when Sam has one foot out the door almost every day?

Another story by the same author this is a "five things" fic that covers the 5 senses. It has a beautiful dream like quality to it and the depictions of Sam and Dean are very tenderly drawn.

The repetition of "In the Light" and "In the Dark" is particularly powerful.
It's odd that this scheme was exactly the part of the story I most doubted, because it's an usual style for me. But I guess it sets up a nice contrast of events in their lives-- where even the ones in the light are tinged with the ache of unsatisfied questions.

You're very welcome. I loved both stories and thought that the structure of Beneath the Silence, separating the incidents in Dean's life out into moments of light and dark worked exceptionally well. The lines I quoted were just beautiful.
