I am now the proud possessor of a master set of the Supernatural trading cards. They're so pretty. I love all the little costume cards! Tad expensive but considering Jensen's autograph alone is going for £150 the set was actually worth it.

Is it sad to be proud at your own ability to put together a fake christmas tree? No? Good.

If you're in the mood to be entertained, if in a ghoulish, watching a train wreck in slow motion kind of a way check out the shenanigans that have been taking place in the Smallville fandom. Seriously disturbing. Kinda makes you lose faith in humanity.

I've collected trading cards in other fandoms. I've got the full set of the Alias season 1 cards as well - including the Jennifer Garner card which costs a fortune by itself. I'm a bit of an autograph collector (got a pretty decent collection) so I would have bought the Supernatural autograph cards anyway - especially as it seems unlikely that Jensen will come over to the UK for an event in order for me to get it in person.

I've never understood the allure of autograph hunting. but I'm not really interested in the actors beyond their work.

When I was at uni, it had a theatre attached to it and one of my pleasures was going up to an actor, asking them if they were who I thought they were, saying thanks then walking off. Because things like that bother me. "I'm sure that was such and such!"

Satisfy my curiosity and I'm happy.

But it's still a pity I'm not going to Asylum. I'd have loved to have met you all.

Well I can understand that its difficult to understand the allure of autograph hunting. I started by going to the stage door after I'd seen a play and it went from there. I guess I like meeting the actors because it gives me the chance to voice my appreciation for their work and the enjoyment it gives me. But I can understand that there are far more people who couldn't give a damn about actors than do - no matter what the gossip rags may suggest!

The conventions are slightly different. I go to them to see my friends - the actors are just scenery. I am going to Asylum to see Jared (interestingly most of my con friends aren't going to that) but it will be nice to meet other LJ'ers like Wenchpixie and obviously I would have been thrilled if Jensen had gone to Breakout but normally my primary motivation in attending cons is seeing my friends and partying to the early hours of the morning.

Of course the bonus of being an autograph hunter is that I never put any actor on a pedestal anymore. All the actresses I've met have been lovely - but mostly super skinny and fairly miserable with it and the actors have all been significantly shorter than they make out (Hugh Jackman didn't seem all that much taller than me and I'm 5ft 2) and no where near as attractive as they look with ten tons of makeup.

Yes its a shame you're not going to be at Asylum. Maybe WinCon UK is a possibility?

I'll need to see how the money goes.

I could see myself going around the stage door to meet the actos, but I still wouldn't want their autographs. Then again, most folk don't understand why being up a mountain in a howling gale is my idea of fun. Each to their own

Speaking of actors...two days till Stewart's school play. It's hard to put someone on a pedastal when you used to wipe their arse.
