I read a lot of fan fiction as my journal will attest but occasionally a story will come along that literally leaves me speechless. This is one of those stories. It tells the tale of John returning from a tour of duty in Vietnam and how he meets and falls in love with Mary. It's lyrical, evocative, achingly sad and just equisitely beautiful. There are honestly no words that could do justice to how brilliant this story is. It's so good I actually picked up the phone and called my dad straight after reading it - it made me ache that much. Go read it immediately!
